About
Asha Southcombe is an emerging artist and curator living on Kaurna Yerta, Adelaide, South Australia. In 2021 they graduated from Honours in Art and Design at the University of South Australia after completing their Bachelor of Contemporary Art in 2020.
Asha's creative practice is based in the act of mark making, both as a communicator of deeper research and as a form of process in itself. Interested by the intersection of the human and more-than-human, their work takes influence from contemporary research in areas of mycology, queer ecology, the natural world and the human.
Asha also works as a practicing curator and arts worker, with particular interests in subverting traditional gallery spaces and the way in which artists works interact with space. Her values lie heavily in the advocacy of emerging/contemporary artists, and highlighting the diversity of practitioners and their practices today.
